HP/UX, SPP/UX and the Exemplar SPP 2000 at Caltech
Currently, HP/UX does not support more than 16 CPUs.
HP/UX 11 will be available on technical servers (V class machines) sometime next year.
HP/UX will probably never be on an SPP2000: the V Class machines are different.
The major focus for the SPP2000 is to provide a scalable computeresource with 256 CPUs.
HP/UX will not support this requirement for quite some time.
Multi-node features of SPP/UX will be moved into HP/UX over a period of time
The Merced-based machine due in 1999, will run HP/UX.
There are no plans to support aCC on SPP/UX. But it will be supported on the V Class machines running HP/UX.
It is potentially feasible to convert the SPP into a V class machine by replacing some firmware components...
