The first time I realised I wanted a 911 was about 20 years ago, when I was "trying out" my BMW 323i on the German Autobahn, doing a decent speed, and a 911 passed me as if I was standing still. Shortly after, a German police car, also a 911, zoomed after the first, seemingly in hot pursuit. I wished I had one.
Of course these cars are too expensive new, but in California you can now pick up a nice used example for around the same price you'd pay for a Kia. I bought mine from a guy in San Diego, who had babied it, and had a pretty much complete service history for it. It's a 1991 model year, stock everything except the CD/MP3 player and a "performance chip".
