GIOD Project Approval, Funding and Participants
The Project was proposed to Caltech, CERN and HP Management in late 1996, and approved early in 1997.
HP is funding the Project for a two-year period, which officially started in June 1997
The funding covers costs of trips by CERN staff to Caltech, and the cost of relocating the Project coordinator from CERN to Caltech.

Individuals participating in the Project include:
- Eva Arderiu-Ribera (CERN/IT/RD45)
- Julian Bunn (CERN/IT and Caltech)
- Vincenzo Innocente (CERN/ECP)
- Anne Kirkby (Caltech/HEP)
- Paul Messina (Caltech/CACR)
- Harvey Newman (Caltech/HEP)
